Mayor's Welcome Message PDF Print E-mail

Ifrance_james_smt is my pleasure to welcome everyone to our web site. East Lansdowne, founded in 1911 is a borough with a population of approximately 3000 people located on the Eastern border of Delaware County less than a mile from the city of Philadelphia. We have a small business district on Baltimore Pike and Long Lane and we have five churches in our town. East Lansdowne is a community of homes. That is our strength. We have our own police and fire protection.

What is the path forward for our borough? With it's close proximity to Philadelphia and the convenience of public transportation East Lansdowne has the benefit of favorable geography. The SEPTA train station in Yeadon is in walking distance for our residents. Two bus routes in our borough give us direct connections to the Philadelphia 69h Street Elevated Train. With all the environmental issues facing us going into the 20 century older mature Eastern Delaware County suburban towns are on the cusp of a rebirth.

Philadelphia's center city has reinvented itself and is a growing partner in the information age. Many of our residents work in Philadelphia and are drawn to East Lansdowne because of it's convenience to center city. I am very optimistic about our future.

Our borough leaders are committed to our present and our future. It is my honor to serve the residents of my borough

Mayor James G. France
